It's our problem-free philosophy, hakuna matata

I watched The Lion King last night. I haven't seen it in years, and I still cried when Mufasa died. I also have "Hakuna Matata" stuck in my head. How was your Thanksgiving? The mister and I went to both sets of our parents' houses - double meals, double the fun. Hmm, now I have those doublemint jingles in my head. Nice.

Stevie from Allow Myself to Introduce Myself gave me this fabulous award, and I wanted to give her a shout out to say thanks!

The rules of this award:

List 10 things that make you happy.
Try and do at least one of them today.
Tag 10 bloggers that brighten your day.
Link back to the person that tagged you.

  1. OPI nail polish. Even though I have a decent amount of their colors I never get tired of painting my nails with them.
  2. Laughing - it's such a great stress-reliever!
  3. Kids who say funny things. I was listening to the radio the other day and the DJ said his three year old daughter randomly said, "Mommy, if you don't give me a glass of milk, I'm not going to college."
  4. Martenelli's sparkling apple cider. I actually prefer it to wine - I love how it tastes.
  5. That I made sweet potatoes for the first time for Thanksgiving and not only was it easier than I expected, they turned out really well!
  6. That I can still sing all the songs to all the Disney movies I watched as a child. I can barely remember stuff about geometry and fractions, but if you need something sung from The Little Mermaid I'm your girl.
  7. My husband, family, and friends. I have a great community of support - and that includes you readers!
  8. Walking into a Starbucks. Even when they're busy I feel a little more peaceful when I step inside. The smells, the sounds, the chatter of customers - love it all.
  9. Yoga.
  10. Waking up and realizing you still have more time to sleep before you have to get up for the day - whether it's 10 minutes or two hours, that sleep always feels more restful.
10 bloggers that I'd like to pass this award to:
  1. Nora from Walking through the Rain
  2. Katie from Loves of Life
  3. Pinkflipflops from The many thoughts of a reader
  4. Nicole from My Life with a Crazy Puppy
  5. Lisa from Lisa's Yarns
  6. Holly from Her Southern Heart
  7. Amber from Girl With The Red Hair
  8. Emily from Say Anything
  9. Gracie from How I complicated my life today
  10. Paige from Reves Plaisants

What are your plans for the weekend, friends? Any of you the going shopping today for Black Friday? Or are you just planning to eat lots of leftover turkey? Happy Friday!

Peace

Peace. So much is wrapped up in that word. I'm thankful for it today, whether it's peace after an argument, or between two warring countries. Some peaceful places for you to dream about dear readers.

What does peace mean to you?

Art soothes the soul

Not just paintings or drawings (although my husband is an artist and he's amazing), but all kinds of self-expression - that's what art is to me. I am thankful for the role it has played in my life, and I love love love this quote.

What about you dear readers? What does art mean to you?

Mind, body, and soul (kind of like earth, wind, and fire, but not really)

Hi friends! How was your weekend? The mister and I watched past seasons of The Office all weekend. We got through seasons two, three, and four. Yeah. All weekend. With the exception of the hour and a half I did yoga Saturday morning.

Speaking of which, today I am thankful for yoga. I took my first class a couple months ago and loved it. Loved it. I feel so good afterward, I have so much energy throughout the day, and it helps me stay relaxed.

What about you friends? Any other yoga fans out there? Was your weekend as fabulously unproductive as mine? What are you thankful for today?

The Parental Units

Today I am thankful for my parents. And by parents I mean all four of them - my dad, mom, father-in-law, and mother-in-law.

The mister and I live within five minutes of both sets of our parents and it's awesome. They are all hands-on but not so much that they drop by unexpected, ya know? Seriously, I can't describe how awesome they are all. I'm thankful for all the things they've done for us - raising us, supporting us, both as individuals and as a couple.

This all sounds lame and meaningless now but I'm crazy about all of them from the bottom of my heart.

"Michael stands in the front of the boat and yells 'I'm King of the World,' within the first hour or I give you my next paycheck."

Today I am thankful for The Office. The mister and I have started watching old episodes and we are now catching up on past seasons. I never understood why people are so passionate about this show.

Now I understand.
